FAQ
Q: Where does your produce come from?
A: We deal with 11 local farms bring you the highest quality produce possible. The small farms do not harvest until crop is ready to be eaten. This insures maximum flavor and texture. When we pick up an order, it was almost always picked for us that morning.
Q: What are the benefits of eating local raw honey?
A: The most common benefit of eating our honey is it will reduce, if not eliminate, the symptoms of allergies. Our honey is packed in Navasota, TX. However they have hives from Montgomery, TX. To Hempstead, TX. Our honey is never heated, they do use a gravity pressure system to filter it though, and this is to remove pieces of bug, hive, and other foreign matter that may be in it through the extraction process. We have had several customers say that they were able to quit taking their prescription allergy medicine once they started consuming our honey on a regular basis.
Q: I have a canning project, or a party, can I buy a case of something?
A: We do offer wholesale pricing on produce. We may however not know exactly what the price will be off the top of our heads though, due to the constant fluctuating in the market. We do require a deposit on all orders though, and will give you a date for pick up.
Q: How do I get something you do not carry in your store?
A: Just ask, we will always try to accommodate special orders. We also have begun an online ordering system we are calling Produce Club. It features everything we carry in the store as well as a larger variety of items we have access to. This program was devised to help us both. You have a larger menu selection of which to choose from, and we can learn what our customers want. With this information we will be able to effectively grow our in store selection.
Q: Do does Produce Club work?
A: Produce Club is an online ordering system via shopping cart, with an in store pick up on Wednesday. It has a wider variety of produce than we offer in the store, but it may not all be available all of the time. It is food that is grown, not manufactured. Three days of straight rain can ruin a crop of squash for a week. If you harvest directly after a good amount of rain, you food will have absorbed a larger amount of water and begin to decay faster than normal. We will do our best, but please be understanding with us.
Q: Why are my plants not blooming?
A: Plants are a living organism. They require water, food, proper lighting, and pruning. Each plant has its own individual needs on all of these aspects, but usually some of all. Water is most crucial. Most plants need it daily, some more, some less. Depends if they are in a container or in the ground is one of the biggest variables. Fertilizer of any kind is always helpful. We prefer a good water soluble about once a week. Every other week is fine if you want to combine a slow release granule combination as well. The hose injection system is not strong enough to make a difference unless you use it every day. Mix concentrated water soluble with water and apply directly to roots for best results. Sunlight is unique to each plant. Look up proper lighting for your plant zone. We are between zone 8 and 9. Keep in mind the tags that come with plants are printed for a national average. Texas weather is anything but average. Pruning is a requirement for almost everything. When plant foliage starts to become thin or leggy, it is a sign that a slight shear is needed. Yes you will cut off all of your flowers, but the amount you get in return will be so much more satisfying.
